About Us

Two Humans, Two Dogs, and a Map Full of Memories

Welcome to our little corner of the world! We are Marc and Eika, and our story started nearly a decade ago while we were living, working, and exploring our way through Japan. Today, we’ve traded the back alleys of Osaka for the wild, rugged beauty of Southern Tasmania, where we live right on the doorstep of one of the most magical national parks on Earth.

With backgrounds in animal science and years of wildlife volunteering, our lives have always revolved around a deep love for nature, travel, and the incredible creatures we share this planet with.

Naturally, our co-founders have four legs.

Meet the Quality Control Team

Every single piece of mail that leaves our hands has been illustrated and designed by us and thoroughly inspected (and occasionally sniffed) by our resident canine executives:

  • Wasabi (The Labrador): Manager of Smiles & Productivity. Wasabi keeps morale high and operations running smoothly. Subscribers who receive a "Wasabi Wisdom" insert in their mail can expect lighthearted, positive, and upbeat musings on life.
  • Ponzu (The Cocker Spaniel): Intern (Permanently on Probation). Ponzu is incredibly cheeky and hasn't quite mastered corporate etiquette. If you get a "Ponzu Perspective" in your monthly envelope, brace yourself - his outlook on life is brutally honest, hilariously chaotic, and entirely unvetted.

Why Snail Mail?

In a world that moves at lightning speed, we wanted to create a tangible way for people to slow down, disconnect from screens, and reconnect with the natural world. Our mail club is designed to share the jaw-dropping beauty of national parks, diverse landscapes, and native wildlife. But it’s more than just pretty pictures - we want to inspire a community of modern explorers to observe, preserve, and protect our planet's fragile ecosystems.

The Inspiration: From Japanese Goshuin to the Wild

During our years in Japan, we spent our free time traveling the country, visiting endless temples and shrines. Along the way, we fell in love with the tradition of Goshuin (御朱印).

What is a Goshuin? Literally translating to "honourable red seal," Goshuin are highly stylized, handwritten calligraphy and red stamp seals given to travellers at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. They serve as a beautiful, sacred, and deeply personal physical memento of a journey.

We wanted to bring that magical sense of collection and pilgrimage back home with us.

Introducing: The Field Archives

We have illustrated and custom-designed a series of Field Archives - our unique spin on the Japanese Goshuin. Instead of shrines, our archives encourage you to venture out into national parks, immerse yourself in the landscape, and walk away with a beautiful, physical keepsake of your own real-world adventures.
